چکیده
Predicting and mitigating acoustic levels become critical because of the harsh environment during space vehicle lift-off. This paper aimed to study aero-acoustic a rocket The sound propagation within launch event was studied using dedicated computational fluid dynamics (CFD). resolution all phenomena that occur is unfeasible. We discuss turbulence simplification propose feasible simulation through an unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (URANS) model. results were validated with experimental data showing good correlation near fairing surface improvable accuracy in far field. To assess noise generation, main shock waves identified, evolution generated pressure assessed. Moreover, vertical directivity revealed by analysis field surrounding fairing.

A Bayesian Networks Approach to Reliability Analysis of a Launch Vehicle Liquid Propellant Engine
This paper presents an extension of Bayesian networks (BN) applied to reliability analysis of an open gas generator cycle Liquid propellant engine (OGLE) of launch vehicles. There are several methods for system reliability analysis such as RBD, FTA, FMEA, Markov Chains, and etc. But for complex systems such as LV, they are not all efficiently applicable due to failure dependencies between compo...
متن کاملNonlinear Optimal Control Techniques Applied to a Launch Vehicle Autopilot
This paper presents an application of the nonlinear optimal control techniques to the design of launch vehicle autopilots. The optimal control is given by the solution to the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation, which in this case cannot be solved explicity. A method based upon Successive Galerkin Approximation (SGA), is used to obtain an approximate optimal solution. Simulation results invo...
متن کاملTrajectory Optimization for a Multistage Launch Vehicle Using Nonlinear Programming
This work is an example of application of nonlinear programming to a problem of three-dimensional trajectory optimization for multistage launch vehicles for geostationary orbit missions. The main objective is to minimize fuel consumption or equivalently to maximize the payload. The launch vehicle considered here, Europa-II, consists of 5 thrust phases and 2 coast phases. Major parameters of the...
متن کاملPerforming acoustic, vibro-acoustic and aero-acoustic computations using MUMPS
This talk focuses on the direct solution of large complex indefinite unsymmetric systems, that arise in acoustic, vibro-acoustic and aero-acoustic simulations. These systems are structurally symmetric and may contain some large dense blocks, e.g. due to the selection of hybrid modal/physical representations in the model. The first part of the talk gives an overview of the experienced MUMPS capa...
متن کاملAnalysis and Design of Launch Vehicle Flight Control Systems
This paper describes the fundamental principles of launch vehicle flight control analysis and design. In particular, the classical concept of “drift-minimum” and “load-minimum” control principles is re-examined and its performance and stability robustness with respect to modeling uncertainties and a gimbal angle constraint is discussed. It is shown that an additional feedback of angle-of-attack...
